Mask update…

Last Tuesday I was freaking out a bit. We were sitting in class talking about our mask projects. It seemed like everyone is doing some kind of medical, or whatever, design. And there I was sitting there with an design that is more for artistic value than anything. I was really worried about my piece. I don’t have any background in any sort of medical field. I don’t really have any background other than artistic or customer service. I can’t think of a new reason to have a mask that would solve some problem that people would need a mask for. I just wanted to make art and learn to be a better designer when it comes to my art. I spoke with my professor the next day and he assured me that my piece being more about artistic content rather than medical, or some other kind design, was perfectly ok.

One that Note here are pictures of my felt mockup. The finished product is going to be in leather. And probably pieced together like a mask from a horror movie.

This mockup was mostly for scaling. To see how far I wanted it to extend from the face. And determine approximately where the eye holes are going to be. I am going use a steampunk like goggle lense, and frame, to make the eyes stand out more. The lenses are also going to be colored to obscure the vision to some degree of the wearer.

The setup of the mould in Rhino. Now all I have to do is get it ready to have the CNC router carve it into pink foam.

I am feeling more confident about my project now. I am fairly certain it is going to turn out well. I just need to figure out how I am going to create my eye pieces.
